It seems like there is some backlash about the purpose of the theatrosphere, as evidenced by Leonard Jacobs's post.
He was lashing out about the tendency of theatre bloggers to harangue the American Theatre without offering any suitable alternatives to the status quo. He picks apart Mike Daisey's post and Marsha Norman's suggestion about having attaching a resident playwright to each theatre in this country. Though I may not completely agree with his method of challenging the blogging community, his argument. What can we do about it?
In the words of Anton Chekhov, "We need new forms". It is being painfully clear that the non-profit model of the 501(c)3 organization doesn't work for theatre. That we can all agree on, but how do we fix it?
Last weekend at the pataphysics workshop, Mac asked Anne Washburn to speak about her involvement with 13P. They are a growing company that is working on what they call an "implosion model". They have dedicated themselves to producing a play written by each of its members in a predetermined order, so once the 13th play has closed, the company will dissolve. Now this may pose certain fundraising problems, but for the most part it is a great idea.
I'm sure there are many other alternative models (i.e. LLC's, etc). I'd love to hear what everyone else thinks of this topic.

I responded to Jacobs, and in part touched briefly on models and forms, here:
